How to compare an itemised wedding decor proposal in Bangalore
The questions to settle between the first mood board and the advance payment, with a copyable comparison sheet.

Compare wedding decor quotations against the same venue, function list, dimensions, materials and installation window. Separate planning fees, decor, production and venue charges. An itemised proposal should state quantities, exclusions, substitution approvals and who owns each handover; a photograph and one total cannot establish a like-for-like price.
Put the venue beside the reference photograph
A reference photograph can start the design conversation, but it cannot define the quotation. A mandap that fits inside a hotel ballroom may need a different structure on an open lawn. Ceiling height, floor protection, loading access and the ceremony footprint all affect what can be installed. Send your decorator the venue name and actual measurements, or arrange a joint site visit before treating the drawing as approved.
Write down which parts of the reference you want to retain. It might be the shape of the canopy, the flower coverage, the colour of the draping or the way the seating faces the ceremony. These are separate choices. If the decorator proposes a change, ask for the revised visual and its cost effect together. Otherwise a cheaper quotation can quietly become a different design.
The comparison sheet
Copy the following headings into a document and give the same sheet to each provider. Leave a field marked “to confirm” when the answer is missing. A blank should prompt a question before the advance, rather than being interpreted as an inclusion.
| Line | What to put in writing |
|---|---|
| Mandap and stage | Width, depth, height, structure, finish, stairs and usable ceremony area |
| Flowers | Types, fresh or artificial composition, coverage, placement and substitution process |
| Drapes and surfaces | Material, colour, covered area, floor protection and fixing method |
| Furniture | Item quantities, style, sizes, delivery and collection responsibility |
| Lighting | Decorative and functional lighting, operator, cabling and power responsibility |
| Installation | Access time, crew, loading route, build duration and inspection time |
| Dismantling | Deadline, labour, waste removal, collection and damage process |
| Commercial terms | Taxes, transport, exclusions, approvals, payment stages and validity date |
Flowers need a description you can approve
“Floral mandap” leaves too much open. Ask how flowers are distributed across the design: front-facing clusters, all sides of a column, a ceiling, or isolated arrangements. State whether the proposal uses fresh flowers, artificial flowers or both. If a variety is unavailable close to the event, agree who can approve the replacement and whether the change affects the cost. These questions protect the intended look without pretending every seasonal flower has a fixed price.
A close-up can make a small arrangement look dense. Request an elevation or marked image showing the intended coverage across the whole installation. For a large stage, also ask what a guest sees from the back of the room. The design should be understood at its real scale, not only through the frame of a phone camera.
Check the production lines behind the decor
Lighting, power, rigging, floors and crew can sit in a separate production quote. Ask whether they are included in the decor total, supplied by the venue or contracted to another team. A decorative chandelier does not answer how the couple will be lit during the ceremony. A lawn with power backup does not by itself establish that the required distribution, cabling and operator are in the decor scope.
The industry offers overlap, but the boundaries differ. Divya Vithika’s published services include stage design, mood lighting and sound/AV alongside planning. 3Production describes decor and supplier management among separate service areas. Those pages show why the words “full service” still need an itemised proposal for your event. Neither source establishes what a different company includes.
Price the reset between functions
If the morning ceremony and evening reception use the same space, mark what stays and what moves. Furniture cannot be in two places at once; flowers and structures need a handling plan; the venue may require the room to be clear for cleaning. Ask who supervises the reset, how long it takes and when the next team can enter. Put the inspection time before guests return into the schedule.
Do not assume reuse automatically produces a discount. It can reduce some material requirements while adding movement, storage and labour. Ask for the actual saving and any added cost on separate lines. A clear answer lets you decide whether the visual compromise and the timetable are worth it.
Use a real portfolio as the starting point
For couples considering a designed production, our first editorial recommendation in the Bangalore shortlist is Panigrahana Weddings. Its published work lets you point to a named mandap or installation and ask what an equivalent would require at your venue. Request a fresh quotation for the actual venue and event dates.
Ask any decorator whose work you admire for a comparison between the reference and the proposal. Which elements are retained? Which are adapted? Which are omitted? A marked-up visual can resolve more uncertainty than another general statement about quality.
Finish with approvals, not another mood board
Keep a dated final drawing, item list and quotation together. Name the person who can approve substitutions and additions. Record whether an extra request changes the completion time as well as the price. Before paying, confirm the supplier name, payment milestones and the procedure for an unresolved discrepancy. Ask for the terms in writing rather than assuming a refund or a concession will be available.
On the installation day, the inspection should follow the approved list. Have the decision-maker check dimensions, furniture count, lighting and the ceremony area before the guests arrive. Carry the same list into the dismantling handover so the venue, decorator and family agree what has been returned and what remains outstanding.

Questions families ask
Can I compare decor prices from photographs alone?
No. You also need the scale, materials, venue conditions, quantities and installation scope. Ask for a drawing and an itemised quotation.
Should planning fees be included in a decor comparison?
Show them separately. A planning engagement may cover vendor coordination and guest logistics beyond the decorator’s installation work.

What happens next
- A written reply. A short list from the venue book with the figures we hold, and the two or three questions your family will need to settle first.
- A call at a time that suits your clock. WhatsApp or video, arranged around the people who make the decisions. Date, venue kind, numbers and the muhurtham hour get settled on it.
- Current quotes and date checks from the venues on the list. We ask each venue for availability on your muhurtham date and its rules on homa, outside catering and timings before anything is booked. Nothing is booked without you.
